Research areas

  • Co-design of learning environments

We aim to improve the research on design methodologies based on co-design processes. An example is the research project that is currently being developed. It aims to study the application of a model-based in inquiry pedagogy that allows the creation of learning scenarios in university (adaptable to different practical training contexts and student profiles). These scenarios will be generated from co-design process in which teachers, students and tecnopedagogic design experts participates. EMA Group delves into this field of work in the R+D project started in 2013.

  • Emerging technologies and methodologies for learning

The integration process of digital technologies (mlearning, ulearning, FabLab, etc.) into educational organizations represents a complex process of change and hard to implement. We intend to continue the study of these challenges in order to analyze, evaluate and propose solutions to obtain successful results in its application. The leadership of this process and its dimensions is a key element in our research. Examples of work in this field are the models and the dimensions of leadership in the adoption of ICT in educational institutions and the analysis and study of elements that facilitate or hinder this adoption as a process of change. Our research group already has a good track record in this area, backed up by publications, projects and specific contracts.

  • Personal Learning Environments (PLE)

Personal Learning environments are based on digital tools to support the access to information, on the individual reflection linked to content production and on tools for community reflection about sharing knowledge. In each of these three areas interacts three types of elements: technological tools or instruments (allowing to act on the information sources either modifying, searching, organizing or sharing them, etc.), mechanisms (values, skills and attitudes that act as guides or triggers on activities such as thinking, the initiative, curiosity, synthesis, structure, capacity consensus) and activities (the set of actions carried out in very diverse reflection related to both the production of information sources or the social dimension of PLE). Our research group has developed a first prototype within the project JUST4ME and is expected to continue this field of work in European projects.

  • Cases network: case studies for training teachers, educators and social workers

Since 2009, our research group consolidated a reserch field about development and aplication of case studies for training. Go to the website.
